A scholarship that goes beyond financial aid

Amaya Johnson Georgia State University, 2025-2026 recipient

“I received guidance from an experienced industry professional (who) supported me beyond the boundaries of commercial real estate. My connection with BWE has opened doors that I might not have had access to otherwise.”

Throughout the BWE Foundation’s mentorship program, Amaya shared that she was encouraged to explore new perspectives, seek opportunities, and was provided the space to learn and grow. The leadership advice, career guidance, and professional mentorship she received enabled her to pursue commercial real estate abroad in Europe.

Isabella Barrios University of Florida, 2023-2024 recipient

“Mentors at BWE have been instrumental in helping me form meaningful connections within the commercial real estate space as well as shape my post-graduation endeavors.”

The scholarship’s mentorship and networking provided Isabella Barrios the opportunity to accept a job offer at BWE following her graduation.

Lino Alanis Ocampo University of Houston, 2023-2024 recipient

“We’ve been able to learn about topics that no other organization or club that I’ve been a part of has even touched on. For example, we just learned about agency affordable housing and it’s caught my interest ever since.”

Austin Smith Ohio State University, 2022-2023 recipient

“I’m able to be a role model and show others, specifically minorities, that it is possible to pursue a career in commercial real estate…”

Receiving the scholarship has inspired Austin Smith to encourage other minorities to pursue careers in the industry.
